Interview with Scott Thompson on Danny Husk: The Hollow Planet
I had the opportunity to interview Scott Thompson of Kids in the Hall fame about his new project, a graphic novel titled "Danny Husk: The Hollow Planet."
If you're a fan of KITH, then you know Danny Husk as the extraordinarily ordinary character that Scott Thompson has played for over 20 years. Husk, he assures us has stayed true to his "average guy" persona, but within the malleable pith of the comic book realm, the average Husk is anything but.
Thompson originally wrote Hollow Planet as a screenplay several years prior, before seeing it's potential as a graphic novel. This wasn't a fleeting side project for Thompson, but a culmination of early pulp influences, like the Chronicles of Gor by John Norman and the idealization of ambiguous and unlikely fictional heroes, like Frodo. When he teamed up with Frozen Beach Studios' Stephan Nilson who adapted the work, Danny Husk was finally able to jump from screen to page.
"I dont want to give to much away about the story" said Thompson, "but it's basically about a business man named Danny who's life falls apart and he finds himself in an alternate universe. It's an epic comic-adventure with Danny Husk."
The first volume in the trilogy is a complete story in itself, released through IDW publishing on November 1st and will be available in bookstores everywhere. But if you have to be the first on the block to own a copy, I suggest you pre-order it on Amazon and you might get it as early as October 26th.
